Session Information

Sessions are 45-minute, lecture-style presentations that address all areas of the curriculum and appeal to a variety of educators. Most rooms will have up to 30 seats for audience members. Please provide an appropriate number of handouts, and if you run out please provide a way for audience members to contact you to download a copy of your handout.  SDCUE/SDSEA cannot reimburse you for handouts and we do not permit you to charge for handouts.  If you send your handouts to June Dodge ahead of time, she will upload the file so it's available the day of the event.

Invited Presentation Strand

A few speakers have been invited to present as part of an organized strand.  If this is applicable to your session, please note the appropriate strand here.

Commercial or Not?

Attendees at the SDCUE Tech Conference are eager to hear about new products from vendors as long as the session is clearly identified as commercial in the program. A session will be categorized as commercial if one of the presenters works for or has a financial interest in a commercial product that is the major focus of the presentation. Given that distinction, how shall we list this session?

All commercial presenters need to register as vendors and pay an advertising fee of $50 per session. If you are speaking as a representive of a non-profit, university, or other public agency you are not subject to this fee, but still need to register as a vendor, More information is available on the Vendor Registration Form.  To contact the vendor chair, Chuck Abel, please use this form.

Intended Audience

These next three items are here so we can code your session to help attendees decide which sessions are appropriate for them.
If you check too many, then the information is meaningless.  Please check only the most applicable choices.

Learners

What age and type of learners does your intended audience work with? Check as many as apply.

Curriculum Area

What content is your presentation applicable to? Check up to three as appropriate.

(technology, microscopes, rulers, etc.)

Technical Skills

What level(s) of technical skill and experience does your target audience need?

Equipment and Scheduling Needs

The hosting site for the SDCUE Technology Conference & SDSEA Science Conference has a presentation station in all rooms for all lecture/demo sessions. Most presentation stations will have Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).  Bring your own laptop, ethernet cable and extension cord to demonstrate other programs.  In a change from prior years, please note that we will not be able to install any additional software on the presentation stations. If your web site requires browser plug-ins other than Flash, you will need to use your own laptop.

Operating Platform

If you are NOT bringing your own laptop and will use the presentation station in the room, what operating system would you prefer?
If you ARE bringing your own laptop, what operating system will it run?

Other Equipment

Each room will have a data projector and internet access. Please identify any additional equipment you might need.

Please provide detailed information in the space below so that our equipment volunteers can understand your needs.

Are you interested in using an IWB in your presentation? We may be able to put your session in a room that has one. Please indicate your preference (Smart Board or ActivBoard) and recognize that availability will depend on support from those vendors.

Hands-on Session?

Computer Labs
There are a few computer labs available for hands-on sessions. We are not able to install any new software or browser plug-ins on the lab computers, so this option is available only for standard web-based applications, or sessions using the Microsoft Office or the Apple iLife suites.

If you are requesting a lab, please provide the URL or describe which software suite (Office or iLife) you need to the right.

Leave blank if you are not requesting a lab.

Science Rooms
There are a few science rooms available for hands-on sessions.  If you are requesting to be scheduled in a lab, please describe what you will be bringing.  Unfortunately, we may not be able to honor all hands-on requests.

Please provide information (eg. flat tables, lab classroom) to the right so that our volunteers can understand your needs. There are data projectors in science lab classrooms. If you're requesting a science room and need a data projector, please note that in your request.

Leave blank if you are not requesting a science lab.

Present Twice?

Some popular topics draw a crowd that's bigger than any of the rooms at our site. To get around this, we'll be scheduling some sessions a second time to give the audience another chance to hear you. Would you be willing to do this session twice?

Schedule Constraints

We recognize that driving time, childcare and other issues might make it hard for you to do your presentation at some parts of the day. The times for each session are approximate. Please indicate which time slots during which you WOULD NOT be able to present.

Anything Else?

If there anything else we need to know in order to get ready for your session, please write it in the space to the right.

If this form is being filled out by someone other than one of the speakers, please put your name and email address in this space.

To thwart spammers, we unfortunately need to ask you to type in the two words below before you submit. Please check your application over before submitting. Print a copy or save it as a PDF before clicking the Submit button!
